Creative Sleep

“Sleep which knits the unravelled sleeve of care” Shakespeare
Sleep, sleep, beautiful sleep
May it be long, and may it be deep.
We need eight hours
To keep our powers.
Sleep and dream
Help to redeem
And then to sort
The process of thought.
It may also unwind
Any puzzles in mind.
Authors notes
“When we dream, we’re busy exploring the links between old and new memories, which may help explain how we can sometimes solve problems in our sleep”. The conclusion is that
we need eight hours to learn properly”
A quote from Helen Phillips ‘Perchance to learn’ New Scientist No. 2205 pages 27-30 (1999).
