Ode To A "Slothful, Small, Simple And Silent Sea Slug" by Stella M. Turk MBE

This slug may be simple and low
But let a jet of water blow
And it will very soon know
That it need not go slow
If the jet
Is no threat.
This must go to show
We all learn as we grow.
Our slug may not boast a degree
But a sluggish version of Ph D!

Stellas notes:

Matt Ridley 1999 page 222 of Genome writes that if the gills of a sea slug are squirted with water, it will withdraw them but repeat this several times and will become habituated.
