Our greyhound

Casey our greyhoundPeople often comment that greyhound owners must have to walk for miles, labouring under the misguided impression that greyhounds need a lot of exercise – nothing could really be further from the truth.

They are sprinters and spend most of their time 'resting', often in the dead cockroach position (on their backs, with thier legs in the air).

I've created some more pages about greyhounds for those of you who are also besotted by these wonderful dogs or just want to find out more ...

Our greyhound also features on my free calendars and free computer wallpaper pages.

Meet some of our local doggy friends. From left to right, Zak, Belle, Misty, Buddy, Charlie, Xena and Dave.

Dog agility classes

Casey looking forward to agility?Casey and I will be starting with some basic doggy training classes with Trudy Swann soon in the Camborne / Redruth area.

Blue used to really enjoy doing agility and he was surprisingly good at it. I'm hoping the Casey will enjoy it too.

We hope to learn the basics of agility (jumps, tunnels, contact equipment and weaves) just to have fun and maybe even thinking about competing at agility in the future. It's an excellent way to meet new people and get a bit of exercise while training your dog at the same time.

Trudy's agility classes are suitable for dogs from 10 months old upwards who have a basic level of obedience (sit / wait / recall). Pre-class assistance available to help you and your dog reach this basic level if you're interested but not quite there yet!

Trudy Swann is a friendly and experienced Advanced / Grade 7 handler. For more information visit Trudys website at www.trudyswann.com.

The Flicka Foundation

The Flicka FoundationThe Flicka Foundation in Penryn, in Cornwall provides permanent sanctuary for horses and ponies who are elderly, ailing or traumatised from cruelty. We also have some pigs, sheep and many small animals – all unwanted and ‘surplus to requirement’.

They stay here for the rest of their days and no animal is ever put to sleep unless there is no other avenue to explore for their well-being. Many come here in the ‘twilight’ years of their lives.
