Web design services in Cornwall
I am a freelance web designer based in Cornwall, at the edge of the Penwith Moors, near Penzance. I work from home, and am not VAT registered. This enables me to have the greatest flexibility, few distractions and considerable cost savings which I am happy to pass on to my clients.
More and more people are looking for services and products on-line than ever before, and that trend is forecast to increase. Most people are coming to expect that a business will have a web site, or at least some kind of Internet presence. Without a web site your organization could be losing out on potential customers.
Many clients come to me wanting a web site with an idea of what they would like to spend, but not really knowing what is available or what they really want. I can help you take full advantage of the Internet and offer a range of affordable web site services.
Just as each web site design is different, the cost can vary enormously too. The main factors influencing the pricing of a web site include:
- The time taken to construct
- The amount of storage required
- The ‘back-end’ functionality required to ‘drive’ the site
- Amount of maintenance required
I can provide a full personal service, tailored to meet your requirements including web design, hosting, domain registration, search engine optimisation (SEO), web statistics and maintenance.
All the web sites I design include:
- A bespoke design using the latest design techniques
- All the ‘technical details’ taken care of
- Optimum and reliable web hosting facilities
- Domain name registration and automatic renewal
- User friendly navigation
- Internet and search engine optimisation
- Submission to Google
- Advice on web promotion
Sites that clients are able to update themselves are becoming very popular. This type of web site is much more complex to construct and has more demanding ‘technical’ requirements, which can make it an expensive option. To help keep to costs down I can include a prearranged amount of time or number of updates to a site in the annual hosting and maintenance agreement. Alternatively, I can offer a range of options for web sites that you can update, or partially update, yourself.
Web site pricing guide
1 page ‘Starter’ web site
Prices for a one page website “Starter website“ can start at just £100.
A one page web site can be ideal for individuals, small businesses and organisations just wishing to gain presence on the web.
An example site is one that I designed for The Dog Lodge a home-from-home dog sitting service in Polgooth, St Austell.
Ongoing service and hosting for a web site like this would be approximately £30 per annum.
2 - 6 page ‘intermediate’ web site:
Prices for a 2-6 page “intermediate website“ can start at just £300.
2-6 pages are often ideal for individuals, small businesses and organisations, who wish to include more information about their business or organisation and can include a photo gallery, contacts and related links page.
Ongoing service and hosting for a web site like this would be approximately £100 per annum.
6 - 12 page ‘business’ web site
Prices for a 6-12 page “business“ web site can start at just £400.
6 to 12 pages can enable small businesses and organisations to include more detailed information about their business or organisation and can include a photo gallery, booking details, events, news, contacts and related links pages.
For an example site please take a look at the site I designed for Goddess Tours International, a company based in St Just but offering tours to sacred sites in Cornwall, Crete and Ireland.
Ongoing service and hosting would be approximately £100 per annum.
Want to update content yourself?
I can offer a wide range of web site solutions, for sites where you can update content yourself, from sites that you can regularly update just parts of the site yourself, such as news or events sections, to a full Content Management System (CMS).
I am quite happy to provide a Full Content Management System (CMS) for a client, but they do tend to be more expensive as there are a lot more technical requirements and they tend to take longer to build. This system is generally more suited to large sites with very many pages that need frequent updates often by a significant number editors.
To help clients keep costs down I often agree a amount of time or number of updates to a standard site in advance with a client. Alternatively, I can carry out your updates for a modest hourly rate, or build in the functionality to update parts of the site yourself
Partially updateable systems
Cornwall Moth Group web site is an example of a site I run where County Moth Recorders are able to publish and remove details of events and recent moth sightings themselves without having access to alter other parts of the site.
I would normally include this functionally to a web site as an optional extra from around £50 per module, depending on how complex it is to build and how much data is to be stored.
Full Content Management Systems (CMS)
Badgers in Cornwall is an example of a CMS driven site where all the pages are updateable by my client. This site is both small and rarely updated, and is included as a good example of the type of site where a content management is not a cost effective solution.
Prices for a CMS web site can start at just £600 with ongoing service and hosting at approximately £150 per annum.
Also see my page for optional extras and feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements. I can usually develop a solution that will suit both your requirements and your pocket.
